Creating space for the life you deserve

Treehouse Living

This project is one of my favorites to date. Why? Because it was like spending the day in a treehouse! This kitchen is straight out of a fairytale in a home nestled deep in the mountains. Like many cottages and homes in fairytales, this kitchen was tiny, with unique cabinetry that was not designed for modern-sized plates and platters. The view was second to none. Every window framed a beautiful forest, thick pines, and breathtaking vistas. Needless to day, the project was an absolute joy!

I started this kitchen like I do any project, by taking every single item out and assessing what needed to stay and what needed to go. Multiple duplicates were donated (because nobody needs 7 sheet pans in a home kitchen!), along with unused items, items that had been forgotten (they will be better served in another kitchen - pun intended!), and items that were no longer needed.

One really fun element of this project was the pantry. Per my recommendation, my client installed an Elfa Shelving System in her pantry, knowing it would help maximize space, and enable her family to make the most of all the food items they had by being able to see where everything was and have options for cooking and snacking.

This family LOVES tea! I had a ball creating a special tea & coffee nook for easy mornings, sunny afternoons, and after-dinner nightcaps. Having a designated area in your kitchen for things you use most often is important. It helps showcase what you love, and makes it easier for you to use and enjoy those items.

This project took 10 hours. It was a big one! But every single aspect of this project, from sorting and cleaning cabinets and outfitting the with liners, to organizing the new pantry space and creating a tea nook was crucial. This space is beautiful, and the placement of items within the space needed to reflect that. My client could not be happier with the results. She texted my the day after her project was completed saying, “Loving the kitchen today! Thanks so much!” Messages like that are the reason I do what I do. Everyone deserves to wake up and love their kitchen, and ALL their home spaces for that matter! It is my honor to create space for the life they deserve.
