Creating space for the life you deserve

Creatively Crafting

Creative expression is so important for our happiness and stress levels. Having a creative outlet can boost self-esteem, energy, overall feelings of wellbeing, and help us wind down, de-stress, and find a little peace. Having a craft or artistic hobby is beneficial in so many ways, but often, the supplies we use to craft, create, and express ourselves can a little out of hand! As with any activity, having all the stuff and accessories that go along with it is half the fun! Lol

I have seen many a cluttered craft room, but none quite so beautiful as this one. Nestled in a castle, this whimsical craft room, painted to look like a fairytale forest, both outside andinsidethe cabinets, had become overrun with left over supplies, spare linens, and glitter galore, hiding the beautiful paint work and abundance of crafting supplies.

After consulting with my client about her needs, her favorite crafts, craft parties, and guest calendar, I was able to sort & declutter, and create a space of her crafting dreams. I added new shelves to existing cabinets to create space for the various craft categories: glitter, paint, floral, soap, candles, etc. (Yes, Glitter has its own shelf!) For the linens, I was able to sort the sheets into matching sets, and fold them so they are all in one easy-to-grab envelope of fabric. I placed all the down duvets together in drawers, and gave the comforters and quilts their own cabinet.

This project required various new bins for crafting supplies, and I made sure to purchase clear bins for my client, so she can easily see what is inside, beyond the cute labels. It also required some incredible (but easy-to-learn and do on one’s own) folding skills, if I do say so myself!

Since her reorganize, my client has had multiple craft parties and had no problem finding, returning, and utilizing all of her amazing supplies. A true crafting fairytale! The key is creating a space for each item, or category of items, to make them easy to find and put back.

I don't think my client will need to acquire more glitter for quite some time, now that she knows where all her glitter lives and how much fun she will have using it! It’s got me thinking that there a few things in my own home that could use a little glitter….
