Creating space for the life you deserve

Family Room at its Finest

My client Andrea loves magic, and each session with her is magical! The way she has chosen to create space for the life she deserves is unparalleled. When she waves the Clean Slate Magic Wand, tremendous transformations take place, and this transformation was no different!

I was able to turn her basement into a family room where her children can read, lounge, play games, and spend time together as a family. Additionally, I created an “adult area” for cocktails, movie viewing, and games. Using a simple shelving unit from IKEA to separate the spaces, I was able to create designated space that felt purposeful, useful, and separate from the kids’ area.

Andrea’s family is ridiculously musical: her husband plays in a band and all of her kiddos play instruments. I designated the left corner of the basement as the “stage” where all their instruments can be displayed and practiced. They play music together as a family, which I LOVE, so giving them a space to jam was key.

This project took about 9 hours to complete. Using my right-hand handyman, Justin, to assemble the shelves and hang the guitar hooks while I sorted saved a lot of time. While I was making the finishing touches (vacuuming, staging special keepsakes, and hanging art), the kids were already taking advantage of their newfound space. Playing guitar, reading while sprawled out on the clean floor. The youngest exclaimed, “We have a real house now!”. It just warmed my heart! The oldest boy asked me to hang a few things in his room, and was busy organizing his toys, inspired by what was happening in the family room. He was so proud of the work he did in a few short hours, and I was too! How fun to be organizing side-by-side;-)

Giving this incredible family a newfound space to be together is everything to me. They can create, explore, and spend quality time as a family, doing activities in a space that feels calm, productive, and all their own. If that isn’t pure magic, I don’t know what is!
